Finance Director, Sara A. Keeler

Ms. Keeler has lived in McKinley County for over 25 years. She graduated from Gallup High School in 1989 and in 1994 earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Specialty Accounting from UNM in Albuquerque. Sara has one son, PJ.

Sara began working with McKinley County in 2009 as a Payroll Specialist and was promoted to Finance Director in January 2010.

Sara enjoys working with the County Commissioners, Department Heads and County employees to provide excellent service to all McKinley County residents.

Commitment and Responsibilities

The Finance Department is committed to proper and efficient handling of McKinley County’s revenues, expenses budgets, financial reports, and records. The Department must follow governmental standards to address the demand for accountability. Procedures have been developed and implemented which meet New Mexico State regulations and statutes as well as Federal guidelines. The Finance Department strives to provide current and accurate information as needed to Elected Officials and County Departments for the benefit of the Citizens of McKinley County.
The Finance Department is responsible for all Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Budgeting, Audits, and the General Ledger Accounting for McKinley County. They work with the Treasurer’s Office to keep an accurate accounting of all county funds.
