Controller, Helen Grenko
Ms. Grenko is a lifelong resident of Gallup/McKinley County. She
graduated from Gallup High School and attended UNM. Helen has two sons,
Dwayne and Wayne.
Helen began working for McKinley County in June 1992 as an accounting
clerk and worked in many finance positions. Having worked with several
Finance Directors and Auditors, as well as completing specialized
governmental accounting courses and certification training, she has
attained a vast knowledge of county accounting procedures and government
requirements.
Helen enjoys working
with county employees, officials, and residents. She is glad to assist
them whenever possible.
Commitment and Responsibilities
The Finance
Department is committed to proper and efficient handling of McKinley
County’s liabilities, budget, financial reports, and records. The
Department must follow governmental standards to address the demand
for accountability. Procedures have been developed and implemented
which meet New Mexico State regulations and statutes as well as
Federal guidelines. The Finance Department strives to provide
current and accurate information as needed to Elected Officials and
County Departments for the benefit of the Citizens of McKinley
County.
The Finance Department is responsible for all
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Fixed Assets,
Budgeting, Audits, and the General Ledger Accounting for McKinley
County. They work with the Treasurer’s Office to keep an accurate
accounting of all county funds.
