In 2006, the McKinley County Commission adopted the “McKinley County Comprehensive Plan – Phase II”, which outlines an aggressive action plan for the next twenty (20) years of development. This plan highlights a number of issues, concerns, and recommendations surrounding community and economic development.
Specifically, the plan recommends focusing on creating business opportunities and base jobs for the people of McKinley County that are built on our unique assets and fit in our community context. A concerted effort should be made to develop these strategic economic clusters in our region. These clusters are the foundation of the new economy: an economy that utilizes our region’s unique assets as the basis of prosperity.
Information packets have been created to guide McKinley County’s effort in the attraction and development of these industry clusters that will act as regional economic drivers.
